Creating a brand that reaches new depths
INTO THE BLUE
The Scottish Seabird Centre is a fun and educational experience for folks looking to learn more about the bird life in East Lothian.
But in 2017, they asked us to create the brand identity for a new programme – one that would transform the Seabird Centre into an amazing new marine hub. Forging new links with marine research institutes and collaborations with leading universities, this project would make them one of Scotland’s leading authorities on life above and below the waves.
This new brand needed to reflect a hugely expanded offer, the breadth of the education programmes on offer, and depth of information and involvement available to all of their audiences — from parents and kids on day trips, to leading marine scientists.
HOW DEEP DO YOU WANT TO GO?
A rich and diverse programme catering for such varied audiences means that however deep into Scotland’s marine world any visitor wants to go, this new hub can take them there.
The new name, The Blue, speaks to the wildlife in the sea and the sky, capturing the idea of curiosity and surprise. The visual identity and language lives and breathes in a 3D space, moving and interacting with awe-inspiring animal and plant life. The brand is incredibly flexible — no matter which part of the experience is communicated to their audiences, the new brand can be submerged within it.
